Crisis

One decision can change everything

President's welcome letter

The Crisis Committee is not a typical MUN committee. It is full of unexpected challenges, difficult decisions, and situations that will push you to think on your feet. What makes Crisis so exciting is that you never really know what is coming next. One decision can change everything, and I cannot wait to see how each one of you handles the challenges thrown your way.

My name is Haya Alqahtani, an eleventh grader in kings academy, and I am honored to serve as this year’s President of the Crisis Committee. My interest in politics began with my dad. Growing up, we would spend hours discussing world events, sharing opinions, and sometimes even debating different political issues. These conversations became something we bonded over and eventually sparked my passion for politics and international relations, which led me to MUN.

What I love most about Crisis is its unpredictability. You can enter a session with a perfect plan, only for everything to change in minutes. It challenges delegates to think on their feet, work together, and make decisions under pressure. I believe these are skills that go far beyond MUN.

As your president, I hope to create an environment where everyone feels confident sharing their ideas, taking risks, and stepping outside their comfort zone. Remember, you don’t need to be the loudest person in the room to make an impact.

I would like to leave you with a quote by John F. Kennedy:

“Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate.”

I cannot wait to meet all of you and see the creativity, determination, and energy you bring to the committee.
