General Assembly

President's welcome letter

Dear Delegates of the General Assembly,

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to KAMUN’27 and to the General Assembly.

My name is Hende and Nabulsi, and I am honored to be serving as your President. Throughout my time in MUN, I have seen how debate can transform complicated global issues into meaningful discussion and, eventually, possible solutions. MUN gives us the opportunity not only to defend the interests of a country, but also to challenge our own perspectives, negotiate with others, and understand issues that rarely have one simple solution.

The General Assembly is one of the most important spaces for these conversations. At this conference, we will focus on two complex issues.

Our first topic is Regulating Artificial Intelligence Surveillance Technologies in Public Security. Artificial intelligence has created new opportunities for governments to identify threats, investigate crimes, and protect public spaces. However, technologies like facial recognition and predictive policing also raise serious concerns surrounding privacy, discrimination, transparency, and government accountability.

Our second topic is Language and Cultural Assimilation Policy Toward Kurdish Populations in Turkey. Language is more than a method of communication; it is closely connected to culture, education, history, and identity. The treatment of Kurdish language and culture in Turkey has therefore remained a complicated political and social issue.

These topics are very different but raise a similar question: how far should governments be allowed to go in the name of national security and interest? I encourage you to approach that question from your country's perspective.

This committee is your opportunity to challenge ideas, defend your position, and create solutions. Be prepared to speak, disagree, debate, and participate!

Best regards,

Hende Nabulsi

President, General Assembly
